Dear St. John’s friends and family,
Happy Fathers Day! Today we revisit the parable of the prodigal son and his father. The gather that waits and begins to run to meet us when he sees us coming down the road. The love of the prodigal’s father surprises us, every time we revisit this story.
This story is our story of redemption. The son thought he would return as a slave. After all that he’d done and experienced, he believed that was all he was good for. Though the son expected rejection and was ready to beg to be a slave, the father accepted him back as the same child. There was no change in status for this wayward son.
What does this say to you about God? What does this say to you about your relationship to God? Let’s take a closer look together and maybe find our own redemption story as the Father whispers in our ear to come home and runs down the road to meet us.
Let’s walk down that road together, with hearts wide open to meet the Father. Let’s fall on our knees in adoration and praise. Let’s seek the God that welcomes us home and embraces us as sons and daughters. Let’s worship together!
Grace and peace,
Pastor Stephanie
