Rooted, Growing, and Branching Out in God's Love
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” John 13:34

One of the ways we invite people to experience amazing love is to offer that love through meeting the needs of hurting people in the world. As a faith community, we are investing in the local community and the world around us through our mission and outreach efforts. Consider joining one of these mission and outreach opportunities. Where is God calling you to serve? Where is God leading you in missions? For more information about any of these opportunities, contact our Director of Missions and Administration, Ingrid Clark at iclark@stjohnsumctc.org.

Good Samaritan Ministries Food Pantry

Each month, St. John’s collects staple items to restock the shelves of the Good Samaritan Food Pantry. Donations can be dropped off at the church during office hours or on Sunday mornings. For the month of April, we are collecting canned or boxed vegetables and fruits. Also, we are collecting laundry detergent.

The food pantry address is 1825 Howell Ave, Room 210, La Marque, TX 77568. The pantry is open on these days:
1st Wednesday of each month 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
3rd Wednesday of each month 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm
5th Wednesday of each month 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
There are opportunities to partner with GSM Food Pantry and volunteer opportunities as well. Please help spread the word. Volunteers can sign up for shifts to serve HERE.

Food Truck Distribution: Second and Fourth  Wednesdays of the month

Every second and fourth Wednesday, the Galveston County Food Bank brings their food truck to First United Methodist Church at 1825 Howell Avenue in La Marque to distribute food to those in need. If you need food, registration begins at 6:30 AM and ends at 9:00 AM. You can drive through to pick up your food. If you would like to volunteer to help distribute food, be there at 7:30 AM to help. You will be finished by 9:30 AM.

Outreach: Community Garden

St. John’s hosts the Texas City Community Garden located to the west of the church building. The vegetables that we grow are given to United Faith Alliance clients in need of fresh produce. They love our fresh beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and peppers. If you love gardening with a purpose, join us in the garden any Friday morning at 8:00 AM. For more information, contact Rev. Cindy Riddick at criddick@stjohnsumctc.org.
