Dear St. John’s family and friends,
Pastor Stephanie and her family are on vacation, so I will bring the message this week. Before you begin your time of worship, I encourage you to prepare your heart and mind to be in the presence of God’s Spirit. Breathe in the breath of God. Breathe out any anxieties or worries. Open your mind and heart to receive what God has to give.
Today, we continue our sermon series on the character of God with the sermon, “God Is More.” I find it amazing that the God who knows everything about us desires for that knowledge to go both ways. God wants to be known to us. God wants a deep and abiding relationship with us. It is only through relationship that we learn who God is. It is through relationship that we learn to trust that God is more than we could possibly imagine.
In our scripture today (Ephesians 3:14-21), the apostle Paul was praying for the Ephesian church. Paul knew that the church would need God’s help to live God’s way in the world. So, Paul prayed that they would experience the love of God in their heart and soul. Paul prayed that they would come to know the immense dimensions of that love. Paul asked that God reveal Godself to be more than the Ephesians could ever ask or imagine. Paul prayed that God would empower the Ephesians to rise to the challenge of living God’s way.
I invite you to consider your own relationship with God as you listen to the message today. Do you KNOW God or do you just know ABOUT God? When have you discovered that God is more than you could have imagined? I pray that you will learn to trust in the God who loves you beyond measure. I pray that you will come to know God so well that you will allow God to transform you into the person you have been created to be.
Blessings for a grace-filled day,
Cindy
