St. John’s is a member of the South District of the Texas Annual Conference. The Texas Annual Conference will be meeting at the end of the month in Houston where the clergy and lay delegates will be voting on several resolutions concerning the future of our churches and the ministry we share together. Our denomination, The United Methodist Church, is going through a period of discernment. A new Methodist denomination has been created called the Global Methodist Church, and there are some in our conference who would like to see The Texas Annual Conference leave the UMC and join this new denomination. The information surrounding this possibility is confusing and distressing for many people. This meeting with our District Superintendent, Vincent Harris, is our opportunity to talk through the confusion or ask questions about the future of our churches in a more intimate environment. We will be meeting with other churches in our area. Please come to be in conversation and prayer about the movement of ministry at St. John’s, the annual conference and general church.
