People in this stage of their spiritual journey are not yet believers in Jesus Christ. They might be curious about who Jesus is. They are drawn to authentic Christians and interested in discovering who Jesus is. The invitation to these curious people is “Come and See.” This is the invitation that Jesus gave to the first disciples in John 1:35-39 (NRSV).
The next day John again was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by he exclaimed, “Look, here is the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. When Jesus turned and saw them following, he said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher), “where are you staying?” He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they remained with him that day. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon.
People in this stage are discovering more about Jesus and about the community of faith of St. John’s United Methodist Church. Listed below are some opportunities to come and see what it’s like to be in a faith community, meet some authentic followers of Christ, and experience the love of God and God’s people.
