Thanks to Allison Morgan for sharing this devotion with our St. John’s family. We hope to share a devotion written by someone in our congregation each Friday.
When Cindy asked me to write something about how my faith is helping me through these uncertain times it did not take me more than 5 minutes to know exactly what that was.
I am normally a person who worries about everything. However, the Lord has shown me the way so many times in my life and I have finally gotten to the point where I no longer “freak out” when something bad happens. I have finally learned to give control over to God and I have to say that is one of the biggest blessings of my life as it has allowed me to stop, breath, think things over and then simply be okay knowing that the Lord has a plan for me and whatever that plan is will be presented to me in his time. (of course that is always the hardest part for me)
In the last 6 months I have had a lot of issues with my business which happens to be my livelihood. It had become harder and harder to continue selling physical products on Amazon which is how I have made my living the last 6 years. Therefore, I decided that I really wanted to get out of selling physical products and start doing something different.
It has always been a passion of mine to help others. I love teaching and I love giving to those in need. So I had decided that I wanted to try consulting work. I couldn’t figure out exactly how to go about this where I could help those that needed help and also make enough money to still pay my bills. I prayed over it for at least 6 months and then Covid 19 happened.
As terrible as this crisis has been for everyone I truly know in my heart that God is using this time to show me my path. He has literally paved the way for me to know exactly WHAT I can do and HOW to make it happen! Now you may laugh at this but as some of you know, I am an extreme couponer and have been for 35 years and that is how I started my business, selling items I got for very little at a profit.
That being said about 2 years ago I got my hands on a huge amount of Cottonelle toilet paper. It was in cases in my warehouse and I kept saying I needed to list it but never seemed to get around to it and the profit wasn’t too great on it so I wasn’t too concerned about getting it listed.
Well, then Covid hit and guess who had the toilet paper that the whole world wanted and was willing to pay a good price for? Yep, it was ME!!
I always ask God to hit me over the head with whatever his intentions are for me as I am kind of slow sometimes! Well, he did just that by me being able to sell all of that toilet paper. I sold over 300 packages of it and made enough to live for the next 3 months. Having this 3 months of income has allowed me the time I need to start my consulting business. Now, of course I won’t be able to finish it all by then but it will be a great start.
All of this is only possible because I put my trust and faith in our Lord and truly know that he is always there for me. All I have to do is put down the pencil and let him finish writing my story.
I pray that if you have not done that yet that you also will be able to let him finish writing your story.
Blessings to you all!
