Family Game Night – HUGE Success!

by Admin

What a great time of fellowship tonight! Here’s a report from the Grow Team Chairperson, Gary Potter:

Super day!!  Started with great song and sermon and ended with games and fun.  All good!

We had 70+ attendees at our “Games and Pot Luck Dinner” event.  I would have been elated with 50.  Many new faces and there were actually kids running the hall!  Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Dianne and all those who helped with the meal, the set up, the clean up, and the take down.  I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Next event is the “Dessert and Coffee with the Pastor” event on September 20, at 2pm.  Stephanie and Ingrid are working on a head count of attendees.  If you would like to lead the organizing of the dessert and coffee activities, please let me know.

Our next 5th Sunday event will be our “Talent Show and Wanna-be’s” on November 29.  More fun to come!

Thank you for helping to make St. John’s a wonderful place to belong!

If you were there, what was your favorite game and dish?

Financial Peace Class Starts September 13

by Admin

Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University begins September 13th at 5:00 pm in the St. John’s sanctuary.

Yesterday a preview video was shown during service that describes the class and shows what you can expect. Who is the class for? Anyone who wants to do better with money. Whether you’re struggling to make ends meet, find yourself overwhelmed with debt, or want to know smart ways to save for retirement and kid’s college; married or single, this class is for you.

Over 4 million families nationwide have gone through this life-changing class. It teaches you God’s ways – and, let’s face it…your Grandmother’s ways – of handling money. We’ve seen the change it can make in people’s lives. We are excited to offer the class for the sixth time at St. John’s.

Even if you think “No, that class isn’t for me”, you probably know someone who can benefit. Tell them about this class. If you are still unsure, come to the first night absolutely free.

Click here for more details and to sign up.

If you have questions about any aspect of the class contact David McKnight at (713) 594-0884.

Angel Tree

Angel Tree Gifts

The “Be an Angel” Tree was a huge success this year! St. John’s provided Christmas gifts for 77 children in the La Marque ISD. It was a wonderful outreach opportunity and a great way for St. John’s to meet the needs in our community. We were truly blessed by being able to serve God by giving gifts to these children.
